NorthSky
Capably lending a helping hand to the region’s vast nonprofit community is the five-year-old NorthSky Nonprofit Network. A program of Rotary Charities and directed by Debbie McKeon, it assists northern Michigan nonprofit organizations in strengthening their capabilities through capacity building and sustainability support. It also provides a wide range of services and resources to help nonprofits deliver programs effectively and efficiently, while serving as an advocate—securing state and national support and technical and financial resources, bringing them home to the nonprofits in its region.
Demand for NorthSky’s services throughout the nonprofit world continues to increase every year. With a highly qualified pool of consultants under the watchful eye of Debbie McKeon, Executive Director, NorthSky is able to deliver high quality services at an affordable rate. Leverage is a common theme in the extensive work NorthSky has done. Sometimes a small amount of funding can leverage a big impact. Through Rotary Charities’ planning grants, organizations can apply for up to $5,000 of funding to support program, capital and capacity assessment work. Often times organizations use that funding to work with North Sky on a variety of issues. Following are the profiles of two Northwest Michigan nonprofits:
